What is Winter Wallet?

The Winter Wallet was a huge success in 2018, with over 18,000 people thinking ahead and saving for the winter. Due to its success, we’ve brought the Winter Wallet back with a bang for 2019 and this year we’ve made it even easier to save.

Here’s how it works:

Winter Wallet Rules and FAQs

Yes – you can easily change your savings target to any amount between £50 and £500 as often as you need. Your daily contributions will be automatically adjusted to make sure you hit your new target before the savings period ends. 

For example, imagine you set a saving target of £300 when you joined. You’d need to make daily contributions of £1.50 for 200 days to hit that target. 

Fast-forward 100 days into the savings period (half-way!), and you’ve saved £150. For whatever reason, you decide to reduce your savings target to £200 instead. 

You now have 100 days left of the savings period to save the remaining £50 of your new target – so your daily contributions are automatically reduced to 50p a day. 
 

Your daily contributions will come out your energy balance at 7am every day. This will happen even if your balance is negative or your energy is disconnected.

Yes – if you need to stop your daily contributions, you can easily pause (and unpause) your daily contributions from the app. However, if you pause your daily contribution in any calendar month, you won’t be entered into the prize draw for the next month. 
After you unpause, you need to make your daily contributions on each day of a calendar month to be entered into the following month’s prize draw. 
For example, if you unpause on 15th September and then make your contributions every day until the end of October, you’ll miss the 1st October prize draw, but will be entered for 1st November prize draw.
 

You can transfer savings from your Winter Wallet to your energy balance from midday on 1st November 2019 onwards. 

You’re in full control of how much you transfer to your balance – so you can choose a lump sum or small amounts at a time.
Any credit you have remaining in your Winter Wallet on 28th Feb 2020 will be automatically transferred to your energy balance.
If you transfer savings from your Winter Wallet to your energy balance before 1st Nov 2019, then you may not be able to continue using Winter Wallet or qualify for the prize draws.
 

This isn’t possible at the moment, so any savings in your Winter Wallet (including any prizes you’ve won) can only be transferred to your energy balance. 

If you leave us, you’ll get any savings in your Winter Wallet back along with any prizes you’ve won.

Your money is held securely and we always keep full records of transactions, so in the unlikely event something did go wrong, we’ll know exactly what you had in your Winter Wallet and energy balance. 

No – the terms and conditions of your contract with Boost aren’t affected by the Winter Wallet.

Prize Draw Rules and FAQs

The Winter Wallet Prize draw is only available to Boost Smart PAYG+ customers who set up a Winter Wallet.  

We’ll hold 7 monthly prize draws on the 1st of each month, starting 1st May to 1st November 2019.  

It couldn't be easier! 
When you first create your Winter Wallet, you’ll automatically be entered into the next prize draw (even if you haven’t made daily contributions for a whole calendar month).
After your first draw, you just need to keep making daily contributions to your Winter Wallet for a whole calendar month in order to be automatically entered into the following month’s draw.
 

Each eligible customer will have an equal chance of winning. An independent third party will randomly select one customer per prize, and each customer may win only one prize per month. The results of the draw are final and there is no appeal process.
 

If you pause your daily contribution in any calendar month, you won’t be entered into the next prize draw. 
After you unpause, you need to enable your daily contributions for a whole calendar month to be entered into the following month’s prize draw. 
 

There are thousands of available prizes each month, ranging from £1 credits  to free energy for a year.

Free energy for a year means we'll provide energy credit worth £1239, which is the average annual spend of a dual-fuel, non -economy-7 medium user (3100 kWhs elec. and 12000 kWhs gas) as of 1st April 2019.  


All prizes are as stated and are non-exchangeable and non-transferable.  There is no cash or other alternative to a prize in whole or in part.

We may change the prizes from month to month.  Each month the prizes available will be displayed on the app.  

You can check your Winter Wallet each month to see if you are a winner. 

You can keep each prize you’ve won stored in the Winter Wallet.
Any prizes you win will not count towards your Winter Wallet savings target.
 

We will use your personal information to administer the Winter Wallet Prize Draw, including to select winners and for prize fulfilment. For further information on how we use your personal information please see our Privacy Policy.
We may use your first name plus your region e.g. “Dave from Manchester”, in communications and promotions about the Winter Wallet.  We will not identify you personally.  
 

We reserve the right to remove or temporarily suspend from the Prize Draw any participant if, in our reasonable opinion, we suspect any breach of these Rules or reasonably believe that an entry is inconsistent with the spirit of the Prize Draw or is unjust to other participants (including if there is any tampering with the operation of the Prize Draw, cheating, hacking, deception or any other unfair playing practices). In such circumstances, we may also require you to return any prizes already awarded (if applicable). 
We reserve the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the Prize Draw if, in our sole discretion, the Prize Draw is not capable of being conducted as specified. 
If we are unable to award any of the prizes advertised we may, at our sole discretion, award a prize of a similar nature and an equivalent value, or the cash value of the prize.  
These Rules are subject to English Law and by entering the Prize Draw you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England unless you are a resident of Ireland or Scotland, in which case you may also bring proceedings in Ireland or Scotland (as applicable).

Changes to Winter Wallet

We may change these Winter Wallet Rules by giving you 30 days’ notice in writing, this includes by email. If the change is to your advantage we may let you know after we have made the change. By continuing to take part in the Winter Wallet subsequent to any revision of these Rules , you shall be deemed to have agreed to any such new or amended terms. (If you cancel your Winter Wallet following a change in Rules, you’ll get any savings in your Winter Wallet back along with any prizes you’ve won).

We reserve the right to cancel the Winter Wallet promotion at any time by giving you 30 days’ notice in writing. (If we cancel the Winter Wallet, you’ll get any savings in your Winter Wallet back along with any prizes you’ve won).
